Every birthday, I try to either do something that challenges me, do something I’ve never done before, or do something that fills my soul. For my 26th birthday I hit the road and met up with some friends to spend a few days climbing in the Alabama Hills for a feed-your-soul kind of adventure.
Mornings were slow and reserved for the Alpine-Glow-Awe as I like to call it. There’s nothing quite like being in the high desert of the Eastern Sierra looking out towards the snow capped Sierra Nevada. This place holds so many memories for me, and all my nostalgia takes me back here.
The short winter days we had were spent climbing. Nicole and Alec crushed the leads while Dan and I top-roped. This trip Dan actually got to try out rock climbing for his first time, and I almost don’t believe he’d never climbed before when seeing how confidently he moved up the rock.
Alec is still waiting for his Nilla Wafer sponsorship
Dan got me up for some Astro Photography since I’ve been trying to get more into it but never got “the-shot” I hoped for whenever I tried it out. Dan let me try out his lens for this one and I’m still not sure if I actually took this photo or if he somehow just planted this shot onto my memory card for me. Thanks Dan for getting me up so damn early and being the night time shepherd of stoke!
We ended our trip with Dan climbing his second ever rock,Nicole’s friend Lisa climbing her first lead, and my heart begging me to hurry up and invest in some rope already. There’s absolutely no reason to wait for your birthday for a feed-your-soul kind of adventure.
Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
